Rehab Center for Drug Addicts
We arrived in Manila in 1991 with the task to establish a drug rehabilitation center. In the Philippines there are about 3,4 million addicts. Oftentimes they are put in jail or in government rehab centers which are overcrowded and have a military style. Private centers cost approximately 1000,- Euro a month - unaffordable for the poor.

Since we opened our 'Set Free Center' in December 1992, we have admitted about 217 drug dependents. Everyone should have the chance to experience healing and restoration. 70% of those who finished the rehab successfully, have remained drug free. Seven former drug addicts are on staff in our various branches and have become pillars of our ministry. Two others are integrated in ministries we are close to.

Set free after more than 20 years!
'After more than 20 years in the filth of drugs and sin, I was drowning when I met the HELP-Team. One week later I was in jail, and I was amazed when they visited me and invested in my life. I entered the rehab after I came out of jail. Today, 12 years later, I'm 'walking on water' as staff member of the City Mission. It's just great to be involved in God's rescue of the street children of Manila.' (Mariana G.)
